An extra special tasting of exquisite Port Wines
this Saturday - Nov 7th.

to assist with Matteo's Birthday
Rick Hetzel from Wine Trends will be on hand
to discuss these wonderful wines
"Graham’s…the most consistent producer of great Port in the post World War II era…"
Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, 1986
Graham’s wines come primarily from its own Quinta dos Malvedos, Quinta do Tua and Quinta das Lages in the Rio Torto. Two others, privately owned by a member of the Symington family, Quinta da Vila Velha and Quinta do Vale de Malhadas, also supply Graham’s with finest quality grapes. All five Quintas are among the best in the upper Douro valley. Graham’s also buys grapes from selected farmers in the finest districts. Some of these farmers have been selling their grapes to Graham’s for generations.

10-Year and 20-Year Year Tawny Ports
Graham’s Old Tawny Ports are made from wines of the very highest quality which, following careful selection, are matured in seasoned oak casks until their peak of maturity is reached. These are among the most demanding and challenging styles of Port to produce requiring great skill and years of experience from the winemaker and blender. It is essential to strike the correct balance between the delicacy and elegance which results from prolonged cask ageing while retaining the fruit quality which lends these old Tawnys their structure and longevity.

Saturday - we will taste:

Graham's Six Grapes - $23.99
a seductive, rich aroma of ripe plums, cherries and dark chocolate notes. On the palate it's complex, with an excellent structure and a long, lingering finish. Six Grapes is one of Graham's original Port blends--it is a very full-bodied, luscious wine drawn from the same vineyards as Graham's Vintage Ports. Blended from two or three years' harvests, the wine is an average of five to six years old when it is lightly filtered and bottled.

Graham's 2008 LBV Port - $23.99
Late Bottled Vintage has a deep almost opaque colour, with an intense dark red rim. On the nose, elegant aromas of red fruit and eucalyptus, combined with freshly picked mint and notes of the distinctive Douro Rockrose (Gum Cistus). On the palate, rich red fruit flavours balanced by taut, peppery tannins. There is a fine backbone of schist minerality and balanced acidity, with a long and satisfying finish.

Graham's 10 Year Tawny - $39.99
Complex nutty aromas, combined with hints of honey and figs. On the palate: Rich, mature fruit flavours; beautifully mellowed; with a luscious, long finish.

Graham's 20 Year Tawny - $69.99
Excellent bouquet; with a characteristically nutty character and delicious mature fruit; hints of orange peel; exquisitely mellowed by careful ageing. On the palate: Rich, softly sweet and smooth; perfectly balanced with a long and elegant finish.

Graham's 1994 Vintage Port - $129.99
Vinous, extremely balanced and offering scents of red licorice and raspberry fruit with a mocha note. The 1994 offers focused and concentrated fruit that stands out in a crowd. The acidity and ripe, round tannins deliver deft balance. This is going to reward patience and although easy to sip now, Graham’s ’94 will evolve at a high level for another 5 decades and should be permitted to improve in bottle. It’s a remarkable, classic Vintage Port. Score: 95+/100 (Roy Hersh, For The Love of Ports, 2011).   96 pts WA. 95 pts WS

Cigars on the patio – weather permitting…

Zenato wine tasting this Saturday

This Saturday we will do a tasting of
five wines from the Zenato Porfolio
from the Veneto.
Rick Hetzel from Wine Trends
will facilitate this tasting.
*********

The Azienda Zenato is owned by the Zenato family. Sergio Zenato founded
it in 1960, motivated by his passion for wine and by the devotion to quality
he had learned from his father Silvino.
This family wine business is founded on the values of the human factor,
of time, and of tradition, each and all of these linked indissolubly
with Valpolicella and Lugana, areas pregnant with history.
Sergio Zenato pours into the making of his wines his energy and his talent,
animated by an absolute passion for quality and by the determination
to constantly eclipse past results. He has poured his efforts into the land
as well, experimenting with new vineyard plantings. The crafting of his
wines becomes a kind of ritual, which he celebrates together
with his two children, Alberto and Nadia.

Tastings all four days of La Festa

The Feast of the Assumption
August 13th  - 16th - Wine Tastings All Four Days

From Thursday through Sunday, August 13th to August 16th Little Italy will be celebrating the 115th "Feast of the Assumption."

When Little Italy was settled, the community was centered on its beautiful church, Holy Rosary and its patron saint, the Virgin Mother. In the Roman Catholic religion, August 15th was the day Mary ascended into heaven. So for this grotto, the Feast of the Assumption is a very special day. As busy as Mayfield Road is, it is shut down for the four-day celebration in order to accommodate the crowds that come to add to this rich and beautiful tradition.

We at Little Italy Wines are very proud to participate in the celebration with our family, friends and great customers.

We will be having wine tastings

Argentina Nodegas Nieto Senetiner wines this Saturday

This Saturday, we will taste
the wines Bodegas Nieto Senetiner

The history of Bodegas Nieto Senetiner dates back to 1888, when Italian immigrants founded the winery and planted the first vineyards in Vistalba, Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza. The company was managed by different families during the first decades of the past century. These families gave the winery an architectural style of the Italian countryside that still remains today.

Nieto Senetiner is one of the oldest wineries in Mendoza’s esteemed Lujan de Cuyo, with estate vineyards in the districts of Vistalba & Agrelo, located at 3,000 – 3,500’ elevation. These areas are some of the oldest and most traditional winemaking regions of Mendoza and were the birthplace of the Malbec quality revolution. Nieto Senetiner's wines, including its signature Nieto Malbec, are expressed via the tradition and vision of its three unique estate vineyard sites, each with distinct characteristics. The soft, supple texture of Vistalba, which is over 100 years old and one of the great heritage vineyards in Argentina, the power and elegance of Agrelo, featuring a unique cool climate Bonarda plantation and the unique concentration and structure of extreme high altitude Alto Agrelo.

In addition to showcasing the particular characteristics of each terroir, Nieto also engages in a creative blending process to to showcase the complexity to which Malbec can aspire.

Orin Swift Locations wines
this Saturday

The history of Orin Swift Cellars dates back to 1995 when on a lark, David Swift Phinney took a friend up on an offer and went to Florence, Italy to spend a semester “studying”. During that time, he was introduced to wine, how it was made, and got hooked. A few more years of university led to graduation and eventually a job at Robert Mondavi Winery in 1997 as a temporary harvest worker. Deciding that if he was going to work this hard, it would eventually have to be for himself, so in 1998 he founded Orin Swift Cellars; Orin is his father’s middle name and Swift is his mother’s maiden name. With two tons of zinfandel and not much else, he spent the next decade making wine for others as well as himself and grew the company into a multinational brand that now includes 300 acres of vineyards in the Southwest of France. This international ambition has led to projects in Spain, Italy, Corsica, Argentina and other locations around the globe. The Locations wines.

Despite the growth, Orin Swift Cellars continues to operate as a small,
passionate team of friends and family dedicated to making great wine.

I love surprises…The glass instrument series is also going strong - its a good spring of creativity at the glass studio!

Painted Furniture and 3D Sculpture - Unique furniture is the main target for the color. I like to make it “funiture.” I have
recently began creating pieces out of found objects and unusable furniture.
I use acrylic and latex paint on my pieces. Polymer clay, wire, plastic and glass beads are also be used to create my 3D sculptures. Bright, multi-colors and detailed designs are my trademarks even though I have been known to enjoy painting subtle colored and monochromatic pieces with just a small amount of pattern. I like when a piece “talks” to me and shows me what to paint. I love it when my work brings a smile to someones face.
